GENERAL RULES

Safety and PFD

  • Wearing an automatic or hybrid PFD (Personal Flotation Device) is mandatory.

  • Fully manual PFDs are not allowed.

  • A hybrid PFD combines foam with an inflatable chamber, which can be activated manually or automatically.

 

Fish measurement

  • Authorized measuring boards : Ketch or YakAttack

  • Procedure : Catch, Photo, Release (CPR)

  • Requirements :

    • Only live fish are eligible for submission

    • Mouth must be closed

    • Fish must be placed on the measuring board with the head to the left and the dorsal fin facing up.

    • Lower jaw must be touching the bump plate.

    • Minimum length: 12 inches (for 5-fish tournaments)

 

Photo Submission

  • Fish must be placed on the measuring board with the head to the left and the dorsal fin facing up.

  • Lower jaw must be touching the bump plate.

  • Identification code and TBF ID must be clearly visible in the photo.

  • The kayak must be visible in the photo and on the water (not on a trailer).

  • The hand must not cover the eye, enter the gills, or touch the tail.

  • The inch markings on the measuring board must be clearly visible.

 

Infractions and Penalties

  • Open mouth: -0.5″

  • Tail or lip not touching the board: 0 point

  • Hand on eye, gills, or tail: 0 point

No trolling

  • It is strictly forbidden to drag a lure or bait behind a moving kayak.

    Casting and retrieving must be done while the kayak is either stationary, drifting naturally (due to wind or current), or anchored (e.g., with Spot-Lock).

Late Returns

  • Late return up to 5 minutes: -5 inches

  • 5 to 10 minutes late: -10 inches

  • More than 10 minutes late: disqualification

  • Equipment failure = not a valid excuse

  • Upload issues = not a valid excuse

  • Only safety emergencies (capsizing/injury) may be considered, provided they are reported immediately.

Substitutes

  • Only one substitute is allowed per team.

  • No substitutions allowed once a replacement has been designated.

  • Does not pay entry fees / only eligible for door prizes.

Tournament Director Steve Peloquin reserves the right to override the posted rules if a change has been communicated in advance, whether through Facebook Live, email, a Facebook post, or any other official means of communication.

Any situation will be evaluated at the complete discretion of the tournament judges, whose decisions are final.

Tournament Rules

  • Event: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM / Awards: 3:30 PM

  • Maximum 5 fish per team (min. 12″)

No Limits:

  • Unlimited catches

  • Points system

    • 0-12″ = 1 pt

    • 12-14″ = 2 pts

    • 14-16″ = 3 pts

    • 16-18″ = 4 pts

    • 18-20″ = 6 pts

    • 20+ » = 8 pts

Hourly Big Fish Bonus
At the end of each hour, the angler who submits the longest fish caught within that hour wins 100 $.
Fish must be submitted before the hour cutoff to count for that period.
In the case of a tie, the earliest submission wins.

Kayak Survivor:

  • 10 teams of 6

  • Phase 1 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM → 6 teams advance

  • Phase 2 1:00 PM – 4:30 PM → 3 teams advance

  • Phase 3 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM → 1 winner

  • reset to zero at the end of each phase.

  • Mandatory return to the starting point between each phase
